Introducing the Barbie Flip Phone: A Touch of Pink Nostalgia Without Internet
If you want to truly embrace the Barbie lifestyle, why not with a Barbie phone?
On Wednesday, HMD Global (Human Mobile Devices) launched the Barbie Flip Phone, a device designed with a nostalgic pink aesthetic and devoid of social media features. Partnering with Mattel, this retro phone aims to reduce screen time and encourage users to live a more Barbie-like existence.
The phone performs basic functions such as calling and texting, but comes with no internet access or social media apps. Instead, it features fun surprises, like a voice greeting that says “Hi Barbie” when switched on.
“It’s pink, stylish, and has a mirror on the front for touch-ups on the go. It’s the ideal gadget for enjoying life and taking a break from your smartphone,” the HMD press release stated.
The phone is already up for grabs in the U.K. for £99 ($130.74), but U.S. customers will have to wait until October to join the Barbie phone revolution.
Features of the Barbie Phone: Pink Accessories Included
As if having the phone of your childhood dreams wasn’t enough, it also comes with removable covers, fun accessories, and a stylish beaded strap, according to HMD.
When you buy the Barbie flip phone, you will receive:
- Two additional back covers
- Crystals, gem stickers, and various accessories
- Pink battery
- Pink USB Type-C charger
- Beaded lanyard with attachable charms
- Cleaning cloth
- Setup guide
