Dodgers vs. Yankees live score: LA, Freeman aim to finish off NY
NEW YORK — The Los Angeles Dodgers are just nine innings away from potentially their fourth celebratory moment with champagne – and their eighth World Series title overall.
They are currently ahead of the New York Yankees 3-0 as they approach Tuesday night’s Game 4, a lead that’s been nearly impossible to overcome in the 120-year history of the World Series. In fact, teams that have gone up 3-0 in the series have won 21 out of 24 times, with the last sweep being accomplished by the San Francisco Giants in 2012.
The key question now is how much determination the Yankees have left.
So far in the first three games, they’ve struggled offensively, managing just seven runs. They went the first 8 ⅔ innings of Game 3 without scoring, salvaging some pride only with a late two-run homer from Alex Verdugo in a 4-2 defeat. In Game 4, they will rely on steady rookie Luis Gil while the Dodgers plan for a bullpen game.
This strategy helped the Dodgers secure their last series, where they defeated the New York Mets in six games during the NL Championship Series. If the Dodgers’ pitchers perform as well again, it could lead to a celebration in the Bronx as they head home with a shiny trophy in tow.

Fan interference incident involving a Yankee fan
NEW YORK – Regardless of the high price of World Series tickets, fans are not allowed to interfere with gameplay.
Especially not by attempting to grab the ball from Mookie Betts.
During Game 4, two fans were removed from their seats along the right field line after one was called for fan interference on a foul ball hit by Yankees’ leadoff batter Gleyber Torres.
The right field umpire, Mark Carlson, quickly indicated fan interference. However, the situation escalated when another fan seated beside the offending individual attempted to snatch the ball from Betts’ glove with a sheepish smile on his face. The other fan complained that the ball was in the stands and thus “fair game.”
Neither fan ended up with a baseball and they were escorted away by security.
Freddie Freeman hits another home run: Dodgers lead 2-0
NEW YORK – Freddie Freeman is not the sole reason the Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of a World Series title, but he is certainly making a significant impact.
Freeman secured his fourth consecutive home run in Game 4 on Tuesday, hitting a two-run shot in the first inning to silence the Yankee Stadium crowd right from the start.
This home run, a 343-foot blast into the right field stands off a slider thrown by Luis Gil, followed a double from Mookie Betts and gave the Dodgers an early 2-0 advantage.
This marked a record-setting sixth consecutive World Series game in which Freeman has hit a home run, dating back to the 2021 World Series with Atlanta.
Now, the Dodgers are a mere 27 outs away from claiming the title.
Was that a sign for the Yankees?
Five-time World Series champion Paul O’Neill threw out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 4, but managed to throw it over former Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett’s head.
He humorously requested to try again.
The second pitch merely bounced to Burnett.

3-0 comebacks: ‘Let’s not discuss that’
The Yankees find themselves in a challenging position, facing elimination down three games to none against the Dodgers in the World Series.
Only one team has ever successfully come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series — the 2004 Boston Red Sox against the Yankees. Notably, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts played a key role as a base stealer in that historic Game 4.
However, he’s not ready to share any advice on it.
“Let’s not discuss that,” Roberts remarked after the Dodgers’ 4-0 victory in Game 3. “Way too soon for that.”
In World Series history prior to this year, 24 teams have led 3-0, with 21 finishing with a sweep in Game 4. The last team to extend the series after being down 3-0 was the Cincinnati Reds against the Baltimore Orioles in 1970.

Quiet Night at Yankee Stadium: Judge and Sluggers Fall Silent
NEW YORK – While the baseball game unfolds on the diamond, the stadium environment heightens your senses with noise every moment between pitches, innings, and the brief pauses in play during this World Series.
With celebrity shout-outs for more excitement from Ken Jeong in Los Angeles to Flavor Flav in the Bronx, as well as loud sirens and lively organ tunes, both Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium turn up the volume to engage fans and fill the slow moments in a game that often has them.
However, on Monday night, during Game 3 of the World Series, the Yankees’ struggle led to a very different sound: silence.
After a 15-year hiatus, World Series baseball returned to Yankee Stadium, attracting 49,368 fans, all looking for a thrilling moment, reflected in an average ticket resale price of nearly $2,000.
Unfortunately, the Yankees continued to fail to create excitement organically, their high-priced roster reduced to a series of disappointing performances – putting the World Series on track to conclude almost as swiftly as it began.

Injured Freddie Freeman Shines as Dodgers’ Star in the World Series
NEW YORK — Freddie Freeman, who undergoes nearly five hours of treatment daily for his severely sprained ankle, might not find time to use ice when he arrives for Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night. The Dodgers will likely need all that ice to keep their numerous bottles of champagne and beer chilled for the anticipated celebration.
The Dodgers are close to winning the World Series title after defeating the New York Yankees 4-2 on Monday in front of a subdued Yankee Stadium crowd. A sweep would give them a chance to prepare for their first World Series parade since 1988. “We want that parade,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “We didn’t get to celebrate with the city of Los Angeles. That’s a significant incentive.
“But more importantly, there’s a chance to become world champions. That drives us forward,” he added.
Freeman certainly does not lack motivation. His continuous performances, night after night, hitting home runs on the grandest stage of baseball, are solidifying his legacy in Dodgers history.

Yankees Adjust Lineup for Game 4
NEW YORK – Aaron Boone has made some changes to his lineup, though perhaps not in the way Yankees fans would expect.
As the Yankees prepare to face potential elimination in Game 4 against the Dodgers, Boone has moved Giancarlo Stanton down in the batting order.
Now batting fifth, Stanton has been replaced in the cleanup spot by left-handed Jazz Chisholm Jr., while Aaron Judge, who is struggling at just 1-for-12 in the Series—one hit and seven strikeouts—remains in the lineup. Lefty-hitting Austin Wells returns to catch, taking over from Jose Trevino, as the Dodgers suit up for a bullpen game aimed at clinching the championship at Yankee Stadium.
“I considered this for Game 3,” Boone explained regarding Stanton’s adjustment. “But with Game 4 being a bullpen day, I wanted to create as much balance as possible. This aligns more closely with the lineup I have utilized throughout the season,” Boone said. “We’re sticking with what got us this far.”
Regarding further alterations, Boone thought about moving Judge to the leadoff spot, “but that would require moving Gleyber (Torres) out, and he’s been our spark this whole postseason.
“Ultimately, I believe in Aaron Judge. His greatness will show in the No. 3 position,” Boone stated.
