Live Score Updates: Dodgers Pulling Away in Crucial Game 4 Against Padres

The San Diego Padres are close to knocking out the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series for the second time in three years, as they lead the series 2-1 and head into Game 4 at Petco Park on Wednesday.

San Diego secured a tight victory in Game 3, where all 11 runs came in the first three innings during their 6-5 win. The Padres also dominated the Dodgers in Game 2 at Dodger Stadium after the Dodgers won the series opener featuring Shohei Ohtani’s eagerly awaited postseason debut.

Stay tuned for live updates during Wednesday’s game:

Gavin Lux Homers, Dodgers Lead 8-0

In the top of the second inning, Gavin Lux smashed a two-run homer off Wandy Peralta, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 8-0. It appears likely we’ll have a decisive Game 5 on Friday.

Dodgers Add to Their Lead in Seventh, Now 6-0

Tommy Edman successfully executed a rare safety squeeze in the seventh inning to bring Max Muncy home, pushing the Dodgers’ lead to 6-0.

Ohtani Caught Out After Ball Hits Umpire

In the fourth inning, with Shohei Ohtani on second base, Teoscar Hernandez hit what seemed to be an extra-base hit. However, the ball hit the third base umpire after passing Manny Machado. The Padres’ Machado quickly retrieved the ball and tagged Ohtani, who was unaware he was being waved off, making the Dodgers miss a chance to score their sixth run.

Will Smith Hits Home Run, Dodgers Lead 5-0

In the third inning, Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a two-run homer against Bryan Hoeing, bringing in Max Muncy, who started the inning with a double. The Dodgers now lead 5-0, having scored in each of their first three innings of play.

Dodgers Add Two More Runs in Second Inning, Now 3-0

In the second inning, Shohei Ohtani hit a two-out RBI single to score Gavin Lux, which led to Padres starter Dylan Cease being replaced by Bryan Hoeing. On Hoeing’s first pitch, Mookie Betts followed up with another RBI single, putting the Dodgers ahead 3-0.

Mookie Betts Homers in First Inning

Mookie Betts struck a home run in the first inning for the second consecutive night, sending a shot deep to center against Dylan Cease, giving the Dodgers an early 1-0 advantage.
