Game stats

James Cook, turnovers boost Bills in first half vs. Dolphins

If you picked Bills running back James Cook for your fantasy football team this weekend, you’re likely smiling.

Cook has been instrumental, scoring all three of the Bills’ touchdowns, aiding them to a 24-10 halftime lead over the Dolphins. He has amassed 60 rushing yards alongside 17 receiving yards, contributing one touchdown through the air and two rushing touchdowns. This remarkable performance ties for the most touchdowns scored by a Bills player in a single half.

The Dolphins’ first half was marred by turnovers, as Tua Tagovailoa threw two interceptions, leading to 10 gifted points for the Bills. Tagovailoa completed 13 of his 18 passes, totaling 97 yards and one touchdown, alongside the two interceptions.

Bills 24, Dolphins 7: Fourth-down stop triggers long James Cook touchdown run

The Dolphins were on a promising offensive series before Ed Oliver made a crucial sack.

Facing fourth-and-1 on the Bills’ 45-yard line, Tua Tagovailoa was taken down by Oliver for a 6-yard loss, as Oliver applied immediate pressure.

The Bills then regained possession and scored in a single play.

Josh Allen handed the ball to James Cook, who exploited a gap and sprinted for a 49-yard touchdown. This marks Cook’s longest run of the season, enhancing his total to three touchdowns in this match.

Bills 17, Dolphins 7: James Cook increases Buffalo’s lead

The Bills have extended their lead over the Dolphins to double digits. James Cook found the end zone easily with a 1-yard touchdown concluding an 85-yard drive.

This drive was bolstered by an unnecessary roughness penalty against Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer, who previously played for the Bills from 2017 to 2023. This infraction advanced the Bills from their own 35-yard line to midfield after Poyer led with his helmet on a tackle against Bills receiver Khalil Shakir.

Bills 10, Dolphins 7: Tua Tagovailoa’s second interception results in Buffalo field goal

So far, the Bills have capitalized on their turnovers for all 10 of their points.

After the Bills’ defense forced another turnover which gave them solid field position, the offense gained one first down before stalling at Miami’s 25-yard line. This led to a successful 43-yard field goal by Tyler Bass.

Tua Tagovailoa intercepted for the second time

Tua Tagovailoa has suffered another interception.

Though the first interception was somewhat a fluke, as his pass was deflected by a receiver, the second interception was clearly on Tagovailoa. On first-and-10 from the 29-yard line, his throw intended for WR Robbie Chosen was intercepted by Bills cornerback Christian Benford, who returned it six yards to Miami’s 44-yard line.

This marks the first instance of Tagovailoa throwing two interceptions in the first quarter across his 55-game career. The Dolphins defense managed to limit the Bills to a 43-yard field goal, meaning all 10 of the Bills’ points have resulted from turnovers. — Cydney Henderson

Bills 7, Dolphins 7: Tua Tagovailoa rebounds after early interception

The game reached a tie at 7-7 after a successful 10-play, 70-yard scoring drive.

Achane played a pivotal role in this touchdown drive, carrying the ball four times, including a notable 14-yard run. The drive concluded with Achane catching a short pass from Tagovailoa and completing a 5-yard dash into the end zone for a touchdown.

Bills 7, Dolphins 0: Buffalo Takes Advantage of Turnover

The Buffalo Bills benefited from great field position following a turnover.

Starting at the 37-yard line, the Bills managed to gain one first down but faced a fourth-and-3 at Miami’s 17-yard line.

Opting to go for it instead of settling for a field goal, Josh Allen connected with RB James Cook on a short pass that Cook turned into a 17-yard touchdown, putting the Bills ahead 7-0 with 9:49 remaining in the first quarter. — Tyler Dragon

Bills Pick Off Tua Tagovailoa on Miami’s First Possession

Miami’s opening possession ended in a turnover.

On a third-and-13 situation from the 39-yard line, Tua Tagovailoa’s pass aimed at WR Grant DuBose was intercepted by Bills CB Ja’Marcus Ingram, who returned it 23 yards to Miami’s 37-yard line.

It seemed that DuBose was not prepared for Tagovailoa’s pass, which deflected off his shoulder pads, landing in Ingram’s hands. — Tyler Dragon

Tyreek Hill Poised to Outperform Legendary Players

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill recorded seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in the first week. This performance brought his career total to 22 games with at least 125 receiving yards and a touchdown reception.
