Donald Trump reacts to Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris for 2024
Former President Donald Trump addressed Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday after the singer known for her song “Tortured Poets Department” supported the Democratic candidate.
While interacting with reporters in the spin room, an area designated for questioning candidates post-debate, Trump responded to Swift’s comments by saying, “I have no idea.”
Right after the debate wrapped up, Swift took to Instagram to share a picture with her cat, Benjamin Button, along with a caption revealing her support for Harris and Tim Walz. Swift also mentioned Trump’s use of AI-generated images that falsely showed her endorsing him, which prompted her to clarify her own electoral intentions. The pop star ended her post by describing herself as a “Childless Cat Lady,” referencing JD Vance’s controversial remarks about those without children.
In her four-paragraph endorsement, Swift urged her 283 million followers to research thoroughly ahead of the upcoming election and to make their votes count.
“I watched the debate this evening and think now is an excellent time for everyone to investigate the candidates’ positions and the issues that are most important to them,” Swift stated. “As a voter, I make it a point to stay informed about their proposed policies and what they plan to do for our nation.”
This isn’t the first time Swift has supported a political figure. She endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris during the 2020 election and also backed Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and Congressman Jim Cooper for the 2018 election in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
