Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s Children Bond Over ‘50 First Dates’

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s kids enjoyed watching ’50 First Dates’

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s children are indulging in some movie time.

The “Scream” actress, who is 49, shared on her talk show Monday that her daughter and Sandler’s daughter recently watched their 2004 romantic comedy “50 First Dates” together.

“My daughter and Adam’s daughter were at my place the other night watching it,” she mentioned. “I asked them, ‘Why are you watching this? Don’t you have enough of me and your dad?’ They were just so delighted. I thought, ‘This is really sweet and lovely.’

Barrymore expressed that it was heartwarming to see her daughter enjoying the film since kids often turn away from their parents’ past works. “It’s fantastic when you see them appreciating something,” she added.

The “Never Been Kissed” star has two daughters, Olive and Frankie, with ex-husband Will Kopelman. Sandler also shares two daughters, Sadie and Sunny, with his spouse Jackie Sandler.

Released in 2004, “50 First Dates” featured Sandler as a man who falls in love with a woman who has short-term memory loss, prompting him to win her over each day as she forgets their past meetings. This film marked the second collaboration between Barrymore and Sandler, following their 1998 romantic comedy “The Wedding Singer.” The duo later teamed up again for the 2014 film “Blended.”

In February, Barrymore mentioned in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she and Sandler are “very close” and frequently text each other. She also shared that her kids refer to her films as “mom movies.”

“It really means a lot to me that they watch them,” she said. “I never pressure them into it. I ask, ‘Are you sure you want to see this?’ They usually say, ‘Yeah, it’s a mom movie. That’s what we want to watch.’

Regarding her own viewing habits, Barrymore stated previously on her show that she only revisits her films if her kids want to see them. However, in a January Instagram post, she became emotional watching “The Wedding Singer” on TV and even decided to skip her yoga class to enjoy the film.

“We really made a great movie,” she said while looking at Sandler. “I love you so much. Happy New Year.”
