Dunkin’ Faces Doughnut Drought: Supply Chain Woes Leave Customers Craving More

Dunkin’ Faces Doughnut Drought Due to Supply Chain Issues

Last week, customers at Dunkin’ in several states experienced disappointment when some stores were without any doughnuts due to a temporary supply issue.

A Dunkin’ representative confirmed via email to YSL News that “a single-supplier issue temporarily affected some locations in a few states.” They noted that “less than one percent of Dunkin’ locations are still facing this problem, and we are diligently working to restock those stores.”

The statement added, “We expect to have inventory back to normal soon.”

Reports from the Associated Press, Newsweek, and other news sources revealed that the shortage impacted shops in Nebraska, New Mexico, and additionally, some stores in Colorado, as reported by KDVR, a local Fox affiliate in Denver.

Supply Issue Linked to Manufacturing Error

In Nebraska, Dunkin’ locations in Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island reported empty doughnut cases on Thursday and Friday. Signs were placed at their entrances and drive-thru spots informing customers that the pastries were not available “due to a manufacturing error,” according to the Associated Press and TODAY.

The Dunkin’ spokesperson shared photos with YSL News on Tuesday showing that the doughnuts had been restocked in the Nebraska stores.

Krispy Kreme Not Affected by Shortage

YSL News also reached out to Krispy Kreme, another prominent national doughnut chain, to inquire about any supply challenges they might be experiencing.

In an emailed response, Dave Skena, Chief Growth Officer at Krispy Kreme, stated, “At Krispy Kreme, we make our doughnuts fresh from scratch every day at shops all across the country. We do not depend on other manufacturers for the delicious doughnuts we provide our customers.”
