Philadelphia Eagles Act to Eliminate Fake Political Advertisements Supporting Kamala Harris
The Philadelphia Eagles are taking steps to have several fake political advertisements removed from locations throughout Philadelphia. These ads misleadingly claim to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for the presidency.
“We are aware of the counterfeit political ads being distributed and are collaborating with our advertising partner to ensure they are taken down,” the team announced in a statement shared on their social media channels on Monday.
Harris, who is the Democratic nominee in the upcoming general election on November 5, is competing against the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, the 45th president.
Images shared on social media indicate that at least one of these fake ads was positioned at a bus stop in Philadelphia. The advertisement features a cartoonish drawing of Harris in profile, adorned with an Eagles football helmet and holding a football. The ad also displays the Eagles logo above the name “Kamala” in striking, white letters, and states: “Official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.”
The advertisement includes a link directing viewers to the Philadelphia Eagles’ official website, which promotes voter registration at PhiladelphiaEagles.com/vote.
This website does not reference any specific candidates, political parties, or causes. Instead, it offers information and resources to assist Pennsylvania residents in locating polling places, requesting ballots, registering to vote, and engaging in the electoral process.
The ad in question can be found at a bus stop in West Philadelphia, identified by its bus stop ID number, located at the intersection of Walnut and 34th Streets, right in the middle of the University of Pennsylvania area.
Back in 2020, the NFL, alongside the NFL Players Association, established the NFL Votes initiative. This initiative is a non-partisan effort that aims to promote civic involvement among players, alumni, staff, and fans of the NFL.
