Elon Musk reacts after Chloe Fineman claims he made her cry on ‘SNL’
Chloe Fineman is not happy with how Elon Musk reportedly treated her during his time on “SNL.”
In a TikTok that has since been removed, the “Saturday Night Live” comedian claimed that the Tesla CEO caused her to cry during his hosting stint in 2021.
She recounted, “You made me, Chloe Fineman, burst into tears because I spent all night writing a sketch. I was so thrilled when I came in, and I asked if you had any questions. Instead, you looked at me as if you were going to fire me from Tesla and said, ‘It’s not funny.’
“I expected you to say, ‘Haha, just kidding.’ But you didn’t. Then you started flipping through my script, saying, ‘I didn’t laugh at all. Not once.’
YSL News has reached out to both Fineman and Musk for their responses.
Musk took to X to explain his reaction to Fineman’s sketch, but he neither acknowledged nor apologized for supposedly making her cry.
“Honestly, it wasn’t until that Thursday before the Saturday that any of the sketches made me laugh,” Musk stated. “I was concerned.”
He went on to express his fears that his appearance would turn out to be “unfunny,” but noted, “It ended up working out in the end.” Musk also referred to a September appearance on the “All-in Podcast,” where he made similar comments about finding nothing amusing at first while working on his “SNL” episode.
According to Fineman, the sketch she wrote did make it onto the show and she thought Musk was “really funny” in it. “But have some manners,” she advised him.
Bowen Yang, another “SNL” cast member, previously mentioned on “Watch What Happens Live” that an unnamed host had caused “multiple” people on the show to cry “before the table read because he disliked their ideas.”
Fineman speculated in her TikTok that Musk might be the host Yang referred to who made someone cry. “He’s the host that made someone cry,” she remarked about Musk. “Maybe there are others.”
Chloe Fineman criticizes Elon Musk for disparaging ‘SNL’ impression
Fineman indicated that her TikTok was prompted by Musk’s recent comments criticizing “SNL” for spoofing him in the latest episode.
In the recent cold open of the show, Dana Carvey depicted the billionaire, who energetically jumped around the stage celebrating President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory. Musk voiced his displeasure on X, claiming “SNL” has “been slowly dying for years,” that Carvey’s impression “just sounds like Dana Carvey,” and that “they are so upset that” Trump won the election.
Fineman expressed her disbelief at Musk’s complaints, stating that it was clear he was watching the show. “What are you talking about?” she questioned.
She noted that when she read articles about an “SNL” host making people cry, she initially chose not to disclose who it was. However, Musk’s “rudeness” on social media prompted her to speak out.
Musk hosted “SNL” in May 2021, where he portrayed the video game character Wario in one sketch aimed at improving his negative image.
Since then, the leader of X has consistently criticized “SNL” on his social media accounts, alleging the show has “become so woke.”
