It’s National Pumpkin Spice Day: A Celebration for Pumpkin Spice Enthusiasts

For many, the arrival of fall is incomplete without enjoying a pumpkin spice latte, and on October 1st, fans can indulge their cravings because it’s National Pumpkin Spice Day!

Interestingly, pumpkin spice actually contains no pumpkin; it’s a blend of ground cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and occasionally allspice, as noted by All Recipes.

Starbucks introduced the Pumpkin Spice Latte in April 2003, months ahead of fall, sparking a revolution in seasonal beverages.

This popular drink was developed in the company’s “Liquid Lab,” according to Starbucks.

“To create the PSL, our team tried a bite of pumpkin pie followed by a sip of hot espresso to discern the flavors from the pie that paired best with the coffee,” the company explains on its website.

Where to Find Pumpkin Spice

You can join in the celebration of National Pumpkin Spice Day through a variety of seasonal drinks at beloved chains:

  • Starbucks: The legendary Pumpkin Spice Latte
  • Dunkin’: Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte
  • Krispy Kreme: Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut and Pumpkin Spice Latte

While these chains aren’t promoting special discounts today, don’t forget to explore local coffee shops and eateries.

For example, Ruby Slipper, a brunch spot in states like Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, is featuring its Pumpkin Spice Latte made with French Truck espresso, pumpkin spiced oat milk, and whipped cream, available for just $6 in celebration of National Pumpkin Spice Day.
