Epic Showdown: Elite Gamers Compete for $350,000 in Thrilling 1-on-1 Tournament

 

Top women players compete for $350,000 in exclusive 1-on-1 tournament. Here’s what you should know


MEDLEY, Fla. – Elite female basketball athletes will vie for a portion of a $350,000 prize pool in an upcoming 1-on-1 tournament organized by the newly formed league that showcases WNBA talent.

 

Out of the 36 players in Unrivaled, 30 will compete in the tournament taking place from February 10 to 14, where the goal is to determine the league’s top player, dubbed “Crown the One.”

The tournament champion will take home $200,000, while the runner-up will receive $50,000. Additionally, the two semifinalists will each get $25,000, and each teammate of the winner will earn $10,000, as reported in a league announcement on Tuesday.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote on player rankings for the tournament from January 30 to February 2. The final list of competitors will be revealed in early February.

 

Rules for the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament

The tournament begins with the first round split into two sessions on February 10. The second round and the quarterfinals will occur on February 11, followed by the semifinals and finals on February 14.

Each match prior to the final will be played until one player scores 11 points or until 10 minutes have elapsed, whichever comes first. The final match will consist of a best-of-three series, played to 11 points as well.

 

Games will follow a make-it, take-it format; players who score keep the ball. There will also be a running game clock along with a seven-second shot clock per possession.

 

Unrivaled player pods for the 1-on-1 tournament

Players have been divided into four pods to balance talent and positions, ensuring exciting matchups. Fans will also take part in the seeding process, assigning matchups in a format from 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, to 4-5. Pods B and C contain eight players each, while Pods A and D have seven players each, with the top seed in each having a first-round bye.

Sabrina Ionescu, Brittney Griner, Angel Reese, Stefanie Dolson, Courtney Vandersloot, and Cameron Brink will not be competing in the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament.
