Jake E. Lee, former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist, injured in random shooting in Las Vegas
Renowned rock guitarist Jake E. Lee, who has played with Ozzy Osbourne and founded the bands Badlands and Red Dragon Cartel, was shot multiple times early Tuesday morning while out walking his dog in Las Vegas.
The authorities are currently looking into the case, as stated by Lee’s management, but police believe the shooting was entirely random and occurred while he was on his morning walk.
The 67-year-old Lee is reportedly “fully alert and progressing well” in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital, his representatives announced. They expect him to make a full recovery.
According to the Las Vegas Police Department, officers responded to the shooting incident at the 11000 block of Alora Street in the southern area of the city.
“Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with obvious gunshot injuries. He was taken to the hospital,” the police statement noted. “No arrests have been made at this point.”
Ongoing investigations are taking place, and police stated that no further information would be released at this time. Lee’s management requested that his family’s privacy be respected during this period.
Who is Jake E. Lee?
Lee gained fame among rock enthusiasts after he joined Ozzy Osbourne’s band for the albums “Bark at the Moon” and “The Ultimate Sin.”
Following this, he formed the band Badlands, which included former Black Sabbath vocalist Ray Gillen and Eric Singer from Kiss; Badlands released three albums. In 2013, he started the band Red Dragon Cartel, which produced “Red Dragon Cartel” in 2014 and “Patina” in 2018.
Recently, Lee had taken a break from live performances due to pain in his right hand, focusing on pain management, as he mentioned in an interview on October 9 with music news outlet Blabbermouth.net. “However, I’m back to playing – I have been for about the last two months, and I want to go on tour,” he stated. “I aim to finish the canceled ‘Patina’ tour due to COVID-19 and promote the ‘Patina’ album while also working on new recordings. We shall see where that takes us.”
