Finalists for the 2024 National Book Awards Revealed: Discover the Selected Titles


Attention book enthusiasts: The much-anticipated event in the literary calendar is approaching – the 2024 National Book Awards!

 

This year’s announcement includes twenty-five finalists competing for distinction in various categories: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translated literature, and literature for young audiences. Winning titles will be awarded $10,000, a bronze medal, and a statue, while finalists will each receive $1,000 and a bronze medal.

The announcement of the winners will occur on November 20 during the 75th annual awards ceremony in New York, which will be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook, and the National Book Foundation’s website.

Complete List of 2024 National Book Awards Finalists

The National Book Awards have celebrated outstanding literature since 1950.

Previous winners include literary giants like William Faulkner, Flannery O’Connor, Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Adrienne Rich, Alice Walker, and Ta-Nehisi Coates. This year’s finalists were selected from over 1,900 entries submitted by publishers. Among the 25 titles, five are debut works, and there are ten titles from either university or independent publishers, per the foundation’s announcement.
