An Incident at Magic Kingdom Sparks False Active Shooter Alarms: Authorities Confirm
On Thursday, a disturbance at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando triggered fears of an active shooter due to a scuffle and a reported popping noise.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office clarified on social media that there was no active shooter present and that the popping sound was likely a balloon, which followed a fight.
“As guests started running, rumors of an active shooter began to spread,” the sheriff’s department explained on social media.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom Visitors Panic Amid Confusion
A user on social media shared footage from the scene at Magic Kingdom, showcasing the panic that ensued.
“Visited Magic Kingdom today, and there was literally a stampede triggered by a suspected shooter. I thought it might be my last day. I was pushed aside and fell. Mothers were crying, searching for their children, and people were hiding—it was terrifying,” wrote user @anxrosa.
Another social media user, named Fernanda Lucio, posted a video showing the park’s evacuation.
Disney Issues Statement Regarding the Event
“We thank the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for their swift action in assessing and resolving the situation promptly. Regular operations have resumed, and the park will be closed for the night,” a Disney World representative stated in an email to YSL News.
