Is Las Vegas Too Hot for Sports?
Las Vegas is increasingly embracing the sports scene.
With a brand-new NFL stadium that hosted the Super Bowl in February, annual Formula 1 races lining the Strip, UFC events in the Las Vegas Sphere, and arenas hosting NHL and WNBA teams, the city is bustling with sporting events.
In the last decade, Las Vegas has welcomed three major league sports teams, two of which have recently won championships, Bailey Schulz reports. Additionally, with the planned demolition of the Tropicana happening on Wednesday, the city is set to add Major League Baseball with a new venue for the Athletics, formerly based in Oakland, California.
This initiative is part of a broader goal to transform Las Vegas into the “sports capital of the world.”
