The highly anticipated second half of Season 5 of “Yellowstone” made its debut last Sunday, revealing significant developments regarding Kevin Costner’s character quite swiftly.

The premiere kicked off with emergency responders at the mansion of Governor John Dutton (played by Costner). His daughter Beth (played by Kelly Reilly) arrives at the scene in a hurry, accompanied by her brother Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes). They break through the police tape only to find a gun on the bathroom floor and traces of blood. Although John’s face isn’t shown, his body can be seen on the floor, and the distress on his children’s faces is evident.

Interestingly, Kevin Costner wasn’t among the many viewers eagerly watching the premiere.

“I missed it,” Costner shared during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “The Michael Smerconish Program” on Monday. “Honestly, I didn’t even realize it was airing last night. I swear to God, I’ve been seeing promotions featuring my face everywhere and thought, ‘Wow, I’m not in that one.’ I’m not part of this season.”

Costner has portrayed Dutton since the series debuted on the Paramount Network in 2018 but announced in June that he would not be returning for what was referred to as the series’ final episodes.

New episodes are set to air every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Paramount Network.

Unfortunately, you cannot stream episodes of “Yellowstone” via Paramount+, as the service has indicated it is not included in any of its subscription options. However, if you have credentials from your TV provider, you can log in to Paramount Network to watch the episodes.

Earlier seasons of “Yellowstone” are available for streaming on Peacock.

Beth Dutton Prepares to Exact Revenge for John Dutton

In a recent interview with YSL News, Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton, expressed that her character will be deeply affected by her father’s tragic fate, which will soon be revealed.

“A person can only endure so much. He is her everything,” Reilly stated. “What will this do to her? It will unleash a tempest within her.”

Reilly noted that she has known the ending of “Yellowstone” since the show’s inception in 2018. The abrupt exit of Costner hasn’t fundamentally altered that narrative path. “It wasn’t planned to happen like this, but it’s gratifying that we could return to the original vision of the show,” she remarked.
