GM recalls 450,000 pickups and SUVs including Escalades: Check if your vehicle is affected
General Motors is recalling about 450,000 vehicles, including some new Escalades and Tahoes, due to an issue where the low brake fluid warning light may not work, creating a potential safety risk.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced last week that the electronic brake control module software in affected SUVs and pickups might not display a warning light if there is a loss of brake fluid.
This absence of a warning could lead to driving the vehicle with insufficient brake fluid, which the NHTSA warns could impair braking performance and heighten the likelihood of an accident.
In total, 449,671 vehicles are part of this recall.

Which GM vehicles are being recalled?
The recall affects certain models from 2023, including the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, as well as the 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV.
The software for the “Electronic Brake Control Module” will be updated either over-the-air or via a dealership appointment at no cost to the owner.

Owners should expect to receive notification letters by October 28, according to the NHTSA.
