BOULDER, Colo. – Just before the Thursday night season opener between Colorado and North Dakota State, renowned wrestler Goldberg was seen on the sidelines wearing a black Colorado football cap as fans enthusiastically chanted his name.

The WWE Hall of Famer, whose actual name is Bill Goldberg, is not unfamiliar with the spotlight in this area, having known coach Deion Sanders for many years. However, this time, he is present as the father of a player on the Colorado roster. Gage Goldberg, his son, is a non-scholarship freshman linebacker hailing from Boerne, Texas.

The connection to the Buffaloes extends beyond just Gage; his cousin, David Goldberg, was part of the Colorado team from 2009 to 2011.

Bill Goldberg played for the University of Georgia for three seasons and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round in 1990. He later spent three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons until 1994, where he was a teammate of Sanders before transitioning into his wrestling career.
