Gracie’s Kitchens Recalls Fruits and Vegetables Due to Listeria Risk: Find Out Which Products Are Affected
On November 28, Gracie’s Kitchens, Inc. announced a recall for ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable items available in grocery stores throughout Connecticut and New York due to potential listeria contamination.
The recall notice from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration indicates that these ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable products were produced at the Gracie’s Kitchens facility between November 4 and November 13. The sell-by dates for these items are between November 9 and November 24. Both the products are no longer for sale and have surpassed their sell-by dates. The decision to recall was made after listeria was detected at the facility.

What is Listeria? What Are the Symptoms of Listeria Infection?
Listeria is a type of bacteria that can lead to a foodborne illness called listeriosis, primarily affecting older adults, individuals with compromised immune systems, pregnant women, and newborns.
Key symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, muscle aches, headaches, a stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and seizures, sometimes starting with diarrhea or other digestive symptoms.
In pregnant women, listeriosis can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, premature births, or serious infections in newborns. For older adults and those with weakened immune systems, infections can sometimes be deadly.
Individuals at higher risk who show flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming contaminated food should seek medical attention.
Treatment for listeriosis typically involves antibiotics.
