Some batches of MadeGood granola bars recalled due to potential metal contamination
The parent company Riverside Natural Foods Inc., which is based in Chicago, has voluntarily recalled certain batches of MadeGood granola bars because of concerns over possible metal contamination, as announced this week.
MadeGood revealed the recall on Monday, stating there is a “very small risk” that some of their granola bar products might contain metal fragments. Both the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emphasized that this recall is a precautionary measure, as no injuries have been reported.
According to MadeGood’s website, “The potential metal piece is described as a small, flat brush bristle, and it is unlikely to be found in our products. We have received seven complaints out of hundreds of millions of bars sold, with no injuries reported.”
This recall involves eight varieties of granola bars that were made from January to November 2024 and sent to stores throughout the U.S. Riverside Natural Foods conducted an investigation that pinpointed the problem within the manufacturing process, but did not disclose specific details regarding the issue or the fixes implemented.
