Stephen Nedoroscik, the ‘Pommel Horse Guy’, is set to appear on Season 33 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

The “Pommel Horse Guy” is joining the cast of “Dancing with the Stars.”

ABC revealed on Thursday that Stephen Nedoroscik, a gymnast renowned for his pommel horse skills and who captured internet fame during the 2024 Paris Olympics, will participate in the dance competition’s 33rd season.

At just 25 years old, Nedoroscik has become the first confirmed contestant for “Dancing with the Stars” Season 33 and made an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Thursday to announce the exciting news.

At the Paris Olympics, he secured a bronze medal in the pommel horse event and contributed to the team’s bronze finish as well. He became a popular figure online, especially after a moment when he appeared to be dozing off.

“Pommel Horse Guy is about to perform the most significant Pommel Horse routine of his life and looks like he is catching some Z’s. My new favorite Olympic athlete,” one post on X remarked.

During his “Good Morning America” segment, Nedoroscik elaborated on how he maintained calm before competitions and hinted that audiences may witness him apply this approach on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“It’s what I do to settle down, so I’ll likely bring that to the dance floor,” he mentioned.

Nedoroscik also shared with “GMA” that he intends to add a distinctive gymnastic “flair” to his performances on the show.

Many internet memes have likened Nedoroscik to a real-life Clark Kent because of his glasses. In a prior appearance on “The Tonight Show,” he admitted he had to silence his phone notifications prior to the pommel horse finals to avoid getting overwhelmed by online attention.

When does Season 33 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ debut?

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will reprise their roles as co-hosts for “Dancing with the Stars,” while judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough will return as well. The entire cast has yet to be announced. The last season featured celebrity contestants such as Alyson Hannigan, Ariana Madix, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Xochitl Gomez.

The premiere date for Season 33 of “Dancing with the Stars” is set for September 17 on ABC and Disney+.
