Gypsy Rose Blanchard reveals paternity test results to address pregnancy rumors
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, known from her appearances on social media and reality television, was released from prison in December after serving seven years for her role in her mother’s death in 2015. Recently, she shared the results of a paternity test in response to ongoing speculation about her pregnancy.
In July, Blanchard announced she was expecting a child with her new boyfriend, Ken Urker, shortly after separating from her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson. She made her relationship with Urker official on social media in late April, just weeks after breaking up with Anderson.
Following the news of her pregnancy, many began questioning the child’s paternity, especially since Blanchard had previously mentioned still having feelings for Urker during her marriage to Anderson.
On Instagram, Blanchard posted the results of a non-invasive prenatal paternity test, identifying Urker as the “alleged father” with a probability of 99.9% for paternity.
“There’s been a lot of talk about our baby’s paternity. While we always knew the truth, I think it’s time to put an end to these rumors,” Blanchard wrote in her post. “Here are the results confirming that Ken is indeed the father. He’s going to be an amazing dad, and we are thrilled to welcome our baby girl.”
Blanchard has consistently asserted that Urker is the only possible father. The legal context in Louisiana also necessitated clarity on this issue.
Under Louisiana law, if a mother is married to someone other than the biological father at the time of conception or has been divorced for less than 300 days when the child is born, the husband or ex-husband is presumed to be the father unless paternity is legally established for the biological father.
Blanchard filed for divorce from Anderson in April, but the DNA results she posted still showed her legal name as “Gypsy Rose Anderson.” If the divorce were not finalized by January, when the baby is due, the paternity test results would thus be crucial in allowing Urker’s name to be listed on the birth certificate.
Blanchard’s eventful year since her release: Divorce, fame, and pregnancy
Blanchard, who gained notoriety as a victim of a suspected Munchausen syndrome by proxy case, was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2016 for killing her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. After serving seven years, she was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri on December 28, 2023.
She had a jailhouse wedding to 37-year-old teacher Ryan Anderson in July 2022, and afterward, gained significant attention online following her release. However, by March 2024, Blanchard announced their separation and that she was filing for divorce.
By the end of April, she had rekindled her romance with ex-fiancé Ken Urker, whom she was originally engaged to in 2018 while incarcerated. On July 9, Gypsy Rose revealed her pregnancy with Urker via a YouTube video titled “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far,” stating she was 11 weeks along with a due date in January 2025.
Following her pregnancy announcement, paternity inquiries arose, prompting Blanchard to discuss the timeline with “Good Morning America” on July 12, clarifying that she had left Anderson in mid-March, making it clear that Anderson could not be the father.
“This is definitely Ken’s baby—no doubt about it,” she asserted during the interview. However, persistent rumors led Blanchard to publicly disclose the paternity test results on Tuesday.
