Halle Bailey and DDG end their relationship: ‘The best path forward for both of us’
Though Halle Bailey and DDG are parting ways romantically, the affection between them is still very much alive.
On Thursday, DDG shared the news of their breakup in a heartfelt message on social media.
“After a lot of thought and deep conversations, Halle and I have chosen to separate,” the rapper posted on his Instagram Story. “This decision was challenging, yet we believe it’s the best step forward for both of us. I treasure the moments we’ve shared and the love we experienced.”
DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., made their relationship public in March 2022, when he posted a loving message for Bailey’s 22nd birthday on Instagram, according to People magazine. The couple initially connected when DDG reached out to Bailey through social media, as she disclosed in an interview with Essence in August 2022.
In December 2023, the former couple welcomed their first child, a son named Halo.
“Even though our relationship is shifting, the love we hold for one another is still profound and genuine,” DDG added. “We will always be best friends and care for each other deeply. As we concentrate on our personal paths and co-parenting, we value the connection we’ve formed and the wonderful times we’ve had together.”
He closed his message with, “As we go through this change, we kindly ask for your understanding and support.”

In a May 2023 interview with People magazine, Bailey discussed how her relationship with DDG influenced her personal development.
“The most wonderful aspect of young love is that you grow as a person while loving someone else,” said Bailey at the time. “When love becomes a bigger part of your life, everything changes.”
Later that year, the couple embraced their fun side by dressing up as famous pop culture couples for Halloween, including tributes to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, as well as Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur in their “Poetic Justice” roles.
“I have definitely uncovered more about myself as a woman,” Bailey shared with People. “Experiencing this has been amazing; it’s truly transformative.”
