Halle Bailey withdraws criticism of ex DDG for showcasing their son on livestream
Halle Bailey is feeling protective of her son, Halo, whom she lovingly refers to as her “Angel.”
The singer and actress known for “The Little Mermaid” expressed her concern when ex-boyfriend DDG featured their son during a Twitch livestream with content creator Kai Cenat. In a tweet that has since been removed, Bailey, aged 24, expressed that she was away and felt “extremely upset” about her son’s exposure.
“Hello everyone. Just to inform you, I’m currently out of town and do not approve of my child appearing on a stream tonight. I was not informed or consulted, and I’m very upset to see my baby in front of millions,” she had posted on X, although her account appeared to be deactivated shortly after. “As his mother and protector, I was disappointed not to be notified, especially while I’m away.”
Later that day, Bailey took a softer stance, suggesting she may have “overreacted” and regretted airing her grievances on social media. “I know that Halo is always safe with his dad. I just dislike finding out what my baby is doing alongside the rest of the world,” she added, expressing gratitude to Cenat for the gifts sent to her son.
YSL News has reached out to DDG’s representative for a response.
DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., revealed in October that he and Bailey had ended their romantic relationship. Bailey has not publicly commented on the split.
“After deep reflection and heartfelt talks, Halle and I have chosen to go our separate ways,” the 27-year-old rapper announced on his Instagram story on October 3. “This decision was challenging, but we believe it’s the best path for both of us. I will always cherish the moments we’ve shared and the love we’ve had.”
The couple went public with their relationship in March 2022 and welcomed their son, Halo, in December 2023.
“Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for one another remains strong and sincere,” DDG expressed. “We are still best friends and have a mutual admiration for each other. While we each focus on our personal journeys and co-parenting, we appreciate our unique bond and cherish the wonderful times we’ve had.”
He concluded by asking for understanding and support during this transition.
Bailey has always valued privacy for her family. They didn’t announce Halo’s birth until months later amidst rampant speculation and only revealed his face in July.
“There was absolutely no way I was going to share the greatest joy of my life with anyone,” Bailey said in March at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon when discussing her decision to keep her pregnancy private. “Halo is my gift. I felt no obligation to expose him, myself, or my family to that relentless spotlight.”
