Part of Harris fundraising proceeds will contribute to recount efforts
WASHINGTON – A segment of the contributions to the Harris Victory Fund, a collaborative fundraising effort approved by the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and state-level Democratic parties, is set to support recount activities, as stated on its fundraising website.
This announcement follows former President Donald Trump’s clean sweep across seven pivotal states, securing 312 electoral votes in the 2024 presidential election, and thereby reclaiming the White House. In several states, Trump narrowly surpassed Vice President Kamala Harris, winning by margins of less than one percentage point in Wisconsin and less than two points in Michigan.
The fundraising site outlines that “the initial $41,300/$15,000 from a single donor/multicandidate committee (‘PAC’) will be assigned to the DNC. The subsequent $3,300/$5,000 from an individual/PAC will be designated for the Harris for President’s Recount Account.”
However, further specifics regarding when the recount will occur and who will oversee it have not been provided.
Harris officially conceded to Trump in a speech at Howard University the day after Election Day, emphasizing the importance of accepting the election results.
“While I accept this election outcome, I will not back down from the struggle that inspired this campaign,” she stated. “We will persist in this battle at the ballot box, within the judicial system, and in the public arena, as well as through quieter means by leading our lives with compassion and respect for one another.”
The Harris team has yet to provide any immediate comments in response to requests for further information.
