The Kansas City Chiefs will be missing a significant player as they aim to maintain their perfect season this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

To fill Butker’s role, Kansas City is signing Spencer Shrader from the New York Jets practice squad, as reported by various sources.

Butker has a career field goal success rate of 89.21%, making him one of the top kickers in NFL history. This season, he has successfully converted 18 of 20 field goal attempts, with his two misses occurring on attempts longer than 50 yards.

Undrafted out of Notre Dame, Shrader kicked three extra points for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 before being released. He joined the Jets’ practice squad on October 30 and was promoted to the active roster for last week’s 31-6 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals, where he successfully made two field goals.

The Chiefs are already missing their leading wide receivers, Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, and facing additional injury challenges before their game against the Bills. Running back Isiah Pacheco has been limited in practice as he works to return after having his 21-day window activated, but Coach Andy Reid mentioned he is not expected to participate this Sunday as he recovers from a fractured fibula that has kept him sidelined since Week 2. However, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster appears to be making progress and could play after fully participating in practice on Thursday despite dealing with a hamstring injury.
