Michigan Deputy Races to Save 63-Year-Old Man During Medical Crisis: Watch the Video
A dramatic video showcases a Michigan sheriff’s deputy springing into action to assist a man facing a medical emergency while driving.
The footage highlights the brave efforts of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputies on September 12, resembling a scene straight out of an action movie.
At around 2:18 p.m., deputies were called to southbound Gratiot Avenue in Mount Clemens following reports of a silver GMC Sierra driving wildly, according to officials.
Mount Clemens is located about 26 miles north of Detroit, Michigan.
Upon locating the vehicle, the deputies attempted to signal the driver to pull over. Unfortunately, the driver did not comply and continued south at a sluggish speed of 5 mph, authorities reported.
When the deputies managed to pull up beside the driver, they discovered a disoriented 63-year-old man who seemed unable to understand what was happening, according to the sheriff’s office.
‘Quick Thinking and Heroic Actions’
After several tries, the driver managed to roll down the window and briefly applied the brakes, as stated by authorities.
Deputy Nicole Miron, positioned on the passenger side of the patrol car, swiftly exited the sheriff’s SUV and climbed through the truck’s open window while both vehicles continued moving side by side, the video reveals.
After entering the truck, Deputy Miron successfully stopped the vehicle and reached out to a family member to verify the driver’s medical condition.
Emergency personnel from the Clinton Township Fire Department arrived shortly after to provide medical assistance to the driver before taking him to a local hospital for further treatment, according to officials.
“I applaud Deputy Miron for risking her safety to aid a citizen in distress and to safeguard other motorists on the road,” remarked Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham in a press statement. “Thanks to her prompt response and altruism, she averted what could have turned into a disastrous event.”
