Are US stock markets open on New Year’s Eve 2024? Check the holiday schedule
The U.S. stock markets will be operational on the last day of the year, New Year’s Eve.
Both the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange will conduct regular trading sessions on December 31, 2024, before closing for New Year’s Day.
On the same day, the U.S. bond markets will close early at 2 p.m. ET, as stated by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and will not resume until after New Year’s Day.
The first trading session of the new year will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
The next planned market closure will happen on Monday, January 20, 2025, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
