This Christmas, the spotlight shines on NBA stars.

Icons like Dolph Schayes, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Steph Curry have graced the league’s Christmas Day lineup.

This December 25th continues that tradition.

The five games scheduled for Wednesday feature well-known all-star players such as James, Durant, Curry, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown, alongside rising stars Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards, who are not newcomers to the Christmas Day celebrations.

Here’s a look at the standout NBA players for the 2024 Christmas Day matchups:

San Antonio Spurs vs. New York Knicks, noon

Spurs Forward-Center Victor Wembanyama

The talented 7-foot player, Wembanyama is poised for his first All-Star and All-NBA selections. He’s currently averaging 24.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and leads the league with 4.0 blocks per game.

Knicks Guard Jalen Brunson

Brunson made a mark last Christmas with 38 points in a win over Milwaukee, the highest score by a Knicks player since Bernard King’s Christmas-record 60 points in 1984.

Knicks Forward-Center Karl-Anthony Towns

A native of New Jersey, Towns will play close to home in his first season with the Knicks. He’s averaging 24.7 points, a career-high 13.9 rebounds, shooting 53.7% from the field and 45.6% from three-point range. He ranks second in double-doubles with 25 and is on track to be an All-Star.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Dallas Mavericks, 2:30 p.m.

Timberwolves Guard Anthony Edwards

After making his first All-NBA team last season and helping the USA win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Edwards is set for his Christmas debut. He’s having another strong year, averaging 25.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals, with a shooting percentage of 44.4% from the floor. At just 23, Edwards is sure to be a regular on Dec. 25.

Mavericks Guard Luka Dončić

Dončić has made a splash on Christmas Day with scoring performances of 27 in 2020, 32 in 2022, and a whopping 50 points with 15 assists in 2023. This season, the All-NBA player averages 28.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 2.0 steals.

Mavericks Guard Kyrie Irving

This will mark Irving’s seventh Christmas game, where he has scored at least 25 points multiple times, including 37 in 2020 and 40 in 2018. This year, he’s enjoying an All-Star-worthy season with averages of 23.4 points, 5.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals, shooting 48.9% from the field, 45.1% from beyond the arc, and 88.6% from the free-throw line.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics, 5 p.m.

Celtics Forward-Guard Jayson Tatum

At just 26, Tatum is gearing up for his eighth Christmas game. As a crucial component of the Celtics and an MVP contender, he’s putting up impressive averages of 28.8 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.2 steals.

Celtics Guard-Forward Jaylen Brown

Brown, Tatum’s teammate and friend, has participated in every Christmas game since he entered the league in 2016. The reigning NBA Finals MVP has a 5-3 record on Christmas Day. This season, he averages 23.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

76ers Guard Tyrese Maxey

Maxey faced challenges in his first Christmas appearance last year, shooting 4-for-20 from the floor. Nevertheless, he turned things around this season, earning his spot on the 2024 All-Star team. He recently showcased his talent with 32 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in a standout game against San Antonio.

76ers Center Joel Embiid

Embiid has had a challenging season due to injuries, but he holds a 3-1 record on Christmas Day and has scored at least 30 points in three of those games, including a memorable 35-point outing against New York in 2022.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors, 8 p.m.

Lakers Forward LeBron James

LeBron is as much a part of Christmas Day as holiday traditions. This year marks his 19th game on Dec. 25, and he has appeared in 18 consecutive Christmas games. He holds the record for the most points scored (476) on Christmas and looks to break a tie with Dwyane Wade for the most Christmas game wins at 11 with a victory.

Lakers Forward-Center Anthony Davis

Davis had an impressive 40-point, 13-rebound performance in last year’s Christmas game against Boston. This season, he’s averaging 26.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.3 steals, shooting 52.3% from the field.

Warriors Guard Steph Curry

Surprisingly, Curry has only scored over 20 points once in his 10 Christmas games, with his best outing being 33 points in 2021.

Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns, 10:30 p.m.

Nuggets Center Nikola Jokić

The Nuggets are riding a two-game winning streak on Christmas Day. Jokić had an outstanding performance last year, achieving a triple-double with 41 points, 15 assists, and 15 rebounds in an overtime win against the Suns in 2022. Earlier this year, he almost replicated that feat with a near-triple-double, scoring 26 points along with 14 rebounds and eight assists in a win against Golden State. Along with his teammate Russell Westbrook, Jokić is among nine players who have recorded a triple-double on Christmas.

Suns Forward Kevin Durant

Durant ranks fourth on the all-time Christmas scoring leaderboard with 315 points, just behind Oscar Robertson who has 377 points. He has consistently performed well on December 25, scoring at least 29 points in seven out of eleven games, including an impressive 44 points in 2010.

Suns Guard Devin Booker

Booker has yet to win on Christmas, holding a record of 0-3 and averaging only 15 points with a shooting percentage of 34.3% in these games. It’s time for him to step up.
