Howie Mandel Issues Apology to Bill Burr and Billy Corgan After Unexpected Interview Encounter

Howie Mandel Issues Apology to Bill Burr and Billy Corgan Over Surprise Interview

Howie Mandel has expressed his regrets.

The judge from “America’s Got Talent” apologized to Bill Burr for catching him off guard during a podcast interview by introducing Billy Corgan, who is potentially Burr’s half-brother.

“I feel terrible,” Mandel explained in a recent episode of his podcast, “Howie Mandel Does Stuff.” “I sincerely apologize, Bill. I’m sorry, Billy. I was just trying to do something nice.”

Mandel shared that it had been a challenging week filled with criticism following the episode, but he insisted he genuinely believed he was bringing Burr and Corgan together for a good reason.

He also mentioned that he has been messaging Burr since the show aired, but “he’s not responding.”

“I sent him a text saying, ‘Good episode,'” Mandel said. “But no reply. I asked if there was anything I could do to make it better? Still no answer.”

In January, during Burr’s guest appearance on Mandel’s podcast, Mandel surprised him with an unexpected guest: Corgan. Earlier on the show, Corgan hinted that he might share a father with Burr. He mentioned that his stepmother told him Burr “could be one of the children sired by your father during his touring days,” claiming that his father previously mentioned having a half-brother named Bill, born around the same time as him.

As soon as Corgan arrived to join Burr, it was evident that Burr wasn’t pleased. He criticized Mandel for the “rude” surprise, while Corgan appeared bewildered that Burr didn’t know he was coming.

“Can we cut that out, or not?” Burr asked, and he told Corgan, “Did it not cross your mind that since I never discussed that story, maybe you shouldn’t either?”

Initially, fans couldn’t tell if Burr was genuinely upset or if he, Corgan, and Mandel were simply joking around. However, Burr later clarified on “The Rich Eisen Show” that he was indeed “not happy with what Howie did.” He labeled Mandel as a “Hollywood whore” and suggested that a heads-up would have been appreciated.

During his podcast on Tuesday, Mandel admitted he “hurt (Burr’s) feelings” and felt bad if Burr was upset. He also asked his guests, Randy Sklar and Jason Sklar, to convey his apologies if they ran into Burr or Corgan.

To wrap up the episode, Mandel reiterated, “I sincerely apologize to Bill and Billy. I didn’t mean any offense. Please reach out to me. I am genuinely sorry.”
