Appalachian State vs. Liberty Football Match Canceled Because of Hurricane Helene Flooding
The football game between Appalachian State and Liberty, originally set for this Saturday, has been called off due to the severe flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in Boone, N.C.
There will be no rescheduling for the match, and the university has stated it will provide information regarding compensation for ticket holders as soon as it can.
On Friday morning, downtown Boone experienced significant flooding, with videos showing water rushing down King Street, which is close to the university.
In anticipation of bad weather, the university enacted its adverse weather protocol on Thursday. This included moving classes to an online format and advising non-essential staff not to come to work. Many activities during Fall Family Weekend were also canceled, such as celebrations for the school’s 125th anniversary and Founder’s Day.
