New Research Shows Plugged Wells and Decreased Injection Rates Diminish Induced Earthquake Occurrences in Oklahoma

Wastewater injection resulting from oil and gas production in Oklahoma caused a dramatic rise in seismic activity in the state between 2009 and 2015. But regulatory efforts to backfill some injection wells with cement and reduce injection volumes have been effective in lowering the state's induced earthquake rate, according to a new study. Hyundai Issues Recall for 34,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid Vehicles Due to Sunshade Defect

Hyundai Recall: Over 34,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid Models Recalled Due to Sunshade Problem

Hyundai is initiating a recall affecting over 34,000 vehicles because of a sunshade that may close unexpectedly, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to a NHTSA announcement released last week, an overhead sunshade can unexpectedly close, which heightens the risk of injuries for passengers. The recall specifically concerns the 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models.

The recall notice explains, “The rear sunshade switch knob on the overhead console might not be fully recessed, leading to the unintended closure of the sunshade.”

Over 26,000 regular Santa Fe vehicles and about 8,000 Santa Fe Hybrids are affected. The repairs will be made at no expense to the owners, and recall notifications will be sent out via mail on January 6, 2025.

Another Recall for Hyundai Santa Fe This Year

This latest recall isn’t the first one for Hyundai Santa Fe models in 2023. Back in July, Hyundai recalled more than 12,000 vehicles due to software issues related to the transmission control unit, which posed a risk of the car rolling away while parked.

Additionally, another recall around the same period affected over 54,000 automobiles because of a fuel pump defect that could lead to the vehicle losing power while driving. The impacted vehicles included:

  • 2019-2023 Genesis G70
  • 2022-2023 Hyundai Elantra N
  • 2022-2023 Hyundai Kona N
  • 2019-2022 Hyundai Veloster N
