Hyundai recalls over 145,000 vehicles: Find out which models are affected
Hyundai has initiated a recall for more than 145,000 of its vehicles, affecting various IONIQ and Genesis models.
The reason for the recall involves an issue with the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), which could potentially fail, leading to a loss of power in the vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), if the ICCU is damaged, it can stop charging the 12-volt battery, resulting in a loss of drive power.
This power loss can heighten the risk of an accident, as noted in the recall report.
Hyundai plans to provide complimentary repairs at their dealerships, which will include inspecting and, if necessary, replacing the ICCU and its fuse, along with updating the ICCU software. Vehicle owners can expect to receive notification letters by January 17, 2025. Those with queries can reach Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or Genesis customer service at 1-844-340-9741. This recall aligns with Hyundai recall number 272 and Genesis number 025G, replacing the earlier recall 24V-204. If repairs were done previously under that recall, owners must follow up to have the new remedy completed.

Hyundai announces yet another recall
Recently, Hyundai also issued a recall encompassing 34,964 of its vehicles.
This recall pertains to the 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models, as the NHTSA reported that the rear sunshade switch knob on the overhead console might not retract completely. This could lead to the sunshade closing unexpectedly.
The unexpected closing of the sunshade could pose an injury risk, according to the report. Additionally, the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models do not meet the standards outlined in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, concerning power-operated window, partition, and roof panel systems, based on NHTSA’s findings.
Dealers will be replacing the switch knobs at no cost to the owners. Recall notification letters should reach affected individuals by January 6, 2025. Owners are encouraged to contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 regarding this recall, identified as number 270.
