Indiana Fever part ways with Christie Sides after two seasons as head coach

Caitlin Clark will step into her second WNBA season with a different head coach.

On Sunday, the Indiana Fever revealed they have decided to move on from Christie Sides after two seasons in charge in Indianapolis.

“We sincerely appreciate Coach Sides for taking on the challenge of guiding us through a crucial transition in the past two seasons, and for setting us up for future success,” said Kelly Krauskopf, the Fever’s President of Basketball Operations, in a statement.

“These types of decisions are never simple, but we must be bold and decisive in striving for our objectives, which include maximizing our talent and bringing another WNBA title back to Indiana.”

In Sides’ first year, the Fever had a record of 13-27. They later secured the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft through the WNBA draft lottery and chose Clark with that pick.

With Clark earning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award, the Fever’s performance improved, finishing with a 20-20 record and securing a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. However, they were eliminated in the first round by the Connecticut Sun.
