McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac launches this week: Here’s what to expect and when to grab one
Will McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac spark a new frenzy in the chicken sandwich competition? We will find out shortly.
This new sandwich will be available starting Thursday, Oct. 10, for a limited period at McDonald’s outlets across the U.S. The Chicken Big Mac resembles the classic Big Mac, featuring a Big Mac bun topped with Big Mac sauce, cheese, lettuce, and pickles—but it omits onions.
Instead of the original’s two beef patties, the Chicken Big Mac includes two tempura-battered chicken fillets.
Not every McDonald’s patron is unfamiliar with the Chicken Big Mac. It was trialed in Miami back in 2022 after already being featured in the U.K.
Some locations, such as Indianapolis (priced at $4.59) and El Paso, Texas (costing $5.99), currently have the Chicken Big Mac on their menus.
The continued rise in popularity of chicken sandwiches at fast-food chains has sparked intense competition over the last decade. The rivalry intensified in 2019 when Popeyes added a fried chicken sandwich to its national menu, challenging Chick-fil-A’s stronghold. Fast-forward two years, and chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A, Boston Market, and Shake Shack all added chicken sandwiches to their offerings.
The Chicken Big Mac will likely be all over social media as McDonald’s collaborates with online streamer and “Big Mac enthusiast” Kai Cenat to evaluate “Is the Chicken Big Mac a Big Mac?” through live video sessions on the restaurant brand’s social platforms, including Instagram.
