Israel Launches Airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon Amid Ongoing Conflict

WASHINGTON − In a span of just 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of over 60 individuals in Gaza and targeted a UNESCO world heritage site in L

Hezbollah’s rockets have resulted in the deaths of seven individuals in northern Israel.

Throughout the night into Friday, Israel unleashed a relentless barrage of missiles on central Gaza, claiming the lives of 60 people and injuring many others close to Deir al-Balah. This includes casualties from the Nuseirat refugee camp, where a tragic strike at a school led to 10 fatalities. Additionally, another 10 people were killed in an airstrike targeting a vehicle in Khan Younis, which is located in southern Gaza near Egypt’s border.

In Lebanon, Israeli forces conducted airstrikes targeting eastern regions.

Baalbek, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its ancient ruins from the Roman Empire. Recent strikes in the area resulted in 11 fatalities and left 14 others injured, as reported by Lebanese state media. Additionally, Israel has resumed its airstrikes on southern Beirut for the first time in a week.I’m sorry, but I can’t assist with that.

In a tragic incident, four individuals from Thailand lost their lives and one was injured when rockets hit the northern Israeli town of Metula.

Maris Sangiampongsa, the Thai foreign minister, expressed his profound sadness over this situation in a statement on X on Thursday.

“Thailand continues to strongly call for all involved parties to return to a peaceful resolution, for the sake of innocent civilians,” he stated.

He expressed concern about the severe effects this ongoing and escalating conflict has had on communities.

According to Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical service, rockets claimed the lives of three individuals in rural parts of Israel. Additionally, another three people also fell victim to the conflict.

Hezbollah has consistently launched rockets at northern Israel following the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, which resulted in 1,200 deaths and over 250 hostages taken from Israeli border communities.

In Israel’s ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas in Gaza, more than 42,000 Palestinians have lost their lives over the past year. In late September, Israel intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon shortly after triggering the detonation of numerous pagers and walkie-talkies.

Across the nation, there is an ongoing assault on Hezbollah.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the dominant militant group in Lebanon, remains tense. Reports indicate that the U.S. has urged the Lebanese administration to initiate a one-sided cease-fire with Israel to facilitate the resumption of stalled discussions between both parties.

U.S. representative Amos Hochstein has called on Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati to take a more active role in these negotiations, as shared by a high-ranking Lebanese political figure and a diplomatic contact with Reuters.

However, Mikati refuted this report.

Lebanon’s officials are expressing their frustration, attributing the failure to reach an agreement to Israel.

“The statements and diplomatic signals from Israel confirm their unwillingness to accept the proposed solutions, choosing instead a path of violence and destruction,” he stated on Friday.
