New Research Shows Plugged Wells and Decreased Injection Rates Diminish Induced Earthquake Occurrences in Oklahoma

Wastewater injection resulting from oil and gas production in Oklahoma caused a dramatic rise in seismic activity in the state between 2009 and 2015. But regulatory efforts to backfill some injection wells with cement and reduce injection volumes have been effective in lowering the state's induced earthquake rate, according to a new study. Jay Leno shares positive update 2 years after fire, motorcycle incident

Late-night television icon Jay Leno is looking forward to brighter times.

The former host of “The Tonight Show” shared insights with E! on the red carpet regarding his recovery journey following a serious incident in November 2022, where he suffered severe burns while working on one of his classic cars.

“Everything is good. I can’t complain,” Leno said, bringing in his characteristic humor to describe his touring life in comedy: “I just come up with jokes, perform them, and get check-ups. It’s quite straightforward.”

He was attending an award ceremony where his surgeon, Dr. Peter Grossman, received recognition for his exceptional work in medicine at the 2024 Daytime Beauty Awards on Monday. At the time of Leno’s incident, Grossman, who leads the Grossman Burn Center, routinely updated the media about Leno’s condition.

According to Grossman, Leno’s injuries were sustained while he was working under a classic vehicle at his Burbank garage, where he stores his famous car collection. When pulled from beneath the car, he had significant burns on his face, hands, and chest.

Then, in January 2023, just a few months after suffering second and third-degree burns, Leno reported to the Las Vegas Review Journal that he was also injured in a motorcycle crash on January 17, which left him with broken bones.

“I got thrown off my motorcycle, resulting in a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, and cracked kneecaps,” Leno shared. He expressed that despite everything, he is “very happy” with his life, largely thanks to his wife, Mavis, who is currently facing dementia.

“I’ve been very fortunate. I’ve been married to the same wonderful woman for 45 years,” Leno remarked. His simple advice for couples? “Don’t mess around—it’s that easy.”

Jay Leno’s health update follows becoming the conservator of his wife Mavis’ estate

Leno’s recent comments come after he was named the conservator of his wife Mavis Leno’s estate in April, as she battles dementia.

Leno filed his conservatorship petition in a Los Angeles court in January, which was approved during a hearing in April, according to court documents obtained by YSL News.

The court’s order stated, “The conservatorship of the estate is deemed necessary and appropriate since (Mavis Leno) cannot manage her financial affairs and is vulnerable to outside influence. This conservatorship represents the least restrictive option for her protection.”
