Jelly Roll’s Incredible 110-Pound Weight Loss After Overcoming Food Addiction
Jelly Roll described his weight loss journey as something that “started rolling” like “an avalanche,” as he shared with People magazine.
The artist, known for “Save Me,” revealed in an interview published Wednesday that he has shed 110 pounds, including 60 to 70 pounds during his Beautifully Broken Tour, which will go on into next year.
“The toughest challenge was battling my food addiction and shifting my perspective on food after 39 years,” he explained. “I’ve never had a good relationship with food, so that was the trickiest part. However, once I embraced the discipline and commitment, it was like an avalanche; once that small snowball started rolling, it just gained momentum.”
He added, “It’s amazing how my lifestyle has transformed. In the past, the culture I created while on tour was fueled by alcohol and drugs, but now it’s all about healthy eating, regular exercise, and checking in with our crew emotionally every day.”
Jelly Roll shared that “my family has never had a healthy relationship with food, which made it difficult to confront that issue. It took determination and discipline to overcome,” expressing his hopes to maintain his weight loss moving forward.
In October, he celebrated this impressive achievement with an Instagram video.
“Next year, you won’t recognize me,” he declared in the video. “I’m going to push myself harder than ever with my workouts.”
In the clip, Jelly Roll’s personal chef, Ian Larios, mentioned that the rapper-turned-country star lost 100 pounds by opting for nutritious pre-show snacks like bananas drizzled with manuka honey and dark chocolate sweetened with stevia, alongside incorporating activities such as basketball, boxing, and walking in arenas before performances on his tour.
Larios pointed out that Jelly Roll’s weight loss strategy also includes high-protein meals after shows, providing healthier variations of his favorite dishes like Nashville hot chicken and French fries. He even prepared air-fried fries using bone broth to add protein while cutting down on fat, removing excess oil and batter from the dish.
The video concluded with Jelly Roll, now halfway through his tour, emphasizing that when his fans see him in “March for Canada, they will hardly recognize me.”
