Could wedding plans be in the future for Jennifer Hudson and Common?

During his appearance on her talk show on Thursday, Common, 52, talked about marriage with his EGOT-winning partner. Back in July, he attracted media attention by suggesting that if he were to marry, it would be her.

“I heard you’ve been discussing marriage,” Hudson inquired. “What’s that all about? I just noticed it!”

Common quoted Hudson’s mother, saying, “a man knows what he wants,” and reassured Hudson that he was simply sharing his “true feelings” when he mentioned, “if I were to marry, it would be to Jennifer Kate Hudson. I was being sincere!” He then flipped the question back to Hudson, asking her for her thoughts.

“I support that idea,” replied Hudson. “I think it’s a lovely thought!” However, she quickly reminded everyone that any such move would happen “in due time,” if it “ever comes to that.”

Common remarked that he understands “what purpose is” and feels that “this is the purpose right here.”

During their conversation, Common also gifted Hudson items, including jewelry and a blanket featuring the title of her upcoming holiday album, “The Gift of Love.” Hudson mentioned that Common assisted her in naming the album.

Hudson later praised Common, referring to him as a “very special man” who “spreads positivity and embodies it in everything he does,” and awarded him a “joyful spirit award.” The two shared a kiss after the award presentation, which brought cheers from the audience.

“When you hear the name Common, you think of a storyteller, a poet, an artist who speaks truth to power,” she expressed. “But when I think of this man, Rashid, I see your heart, your faith, and what I value most: He is a praying man. He is true to his word. He is incomparable. When it comes to embracing joy, you truly embody joy. You are my joy, and you are a beacon of light.”

After weeks of speculation regarding their romance, Common appeared on Hudson’s daytime talk show in January, where she teasingly asked him, “Are you dating anyone?” He directly expressed his relationship status by telling the audience that his girlfriend is an EGOT winner, has “won an Oscar for her first film,” and “hosts her own talk show.”

“I’m in a relationship (with) one of the most beautiful individuals I’ve encountered,” he declared, describing this relationship as a fulfilling space for him.

At that time, Hudson shared that she was “dating too” and expressed her happiness, briefly mentioning to People magazine in June, “Everything is wonderful. That’s all you need to know.”
