Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson End Their 10-Year Marriage
Jessica Simpson and her spouse Eric Johnson are now considering life as individuals.
In a statement released by Simpson’s representatives, the singer confirmed their separation.
“Eric and I have been living apart as we navigate a challenging time in our marriage,” Simpson shared in a statement to YSL News on Monday. “Our priority is our children, and we are concentrating on what’s best for them. We appreciate all the love and support we’ve received and ask for privacy as we work through this family matter.”
Simpson and Johnson, a former NFL tight end, tied the knot in July 2014 and are parents to three kids: 12-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew, 11-year-old son Ace Knute, and 5-year-old daughter Birdie Mae. The news of their split was first reported by People, who noted that Johnson, 45, was spotted without his wedding ring in November.
In 2020, Simpson, 44, marked the decade since she began her relationship with the former San Francisco 49er with a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“Ten years ago today, I fell completely in love with this amazing man!,” she wrote in the May 2020 post. “He knocked on my dreamy cottage door (sigh), I welcomed him in and I’ve never let him leave. He is mine, I am his forever.”
Before her marriage to Johnson, Simpson was married to Nick Lachey, a member of 98 Degrees, from 2002 to 2006. Their relationship was featured in the MTV reality series “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica,” which aired from 2003 to 2005. Simpson also explored her relationships, including the one with John Mayer, in her 2020 memoir, “Open Book,” attributing some challenges to living in the public eye.
Johnson was also previously married.
