JetBlue Stops Serving Hot Meals in Economy Class on Transatlantic Flights
JetBlue Airways has discontinued hot meal service for economy passengers on their transatlantic flights.
The airline explained, “Following a trial this past summer on our seasonal flights to Dublin and Edinburgh, we have introduced a new core menu for our six daily transatlantic flights this fall. This alteration aligns with our goal of maintaining a high-quality experience while offering competitive fares on these routes.”
In light of the blocked merger with Spirit Airlines by the Biden administration, JetBlue is making efforts to cut expenses and adjust its operational approach.
However, passengers flying in Mint business class will still receive hot meals on transatlantic JetBlue flights. These adjustments to the economy dining options commenced on September 1, according to a representative from JetBlue.
The airline previously gained recognition for collaborating with Dig, a New York-based fast-casual dining establishment, which had been catering their transatlantic in-flight services. The new cold meal options are still crafted by Dig.
On JetBlue’s website, new menu inclusions can be found, featuring a breakfast crepe for morning flights and a chicken grain bowl for evening flights, as part of the revamped in-flight service.
