Jets and Pro Bowl LB Haason Reddick Resolve Contract Dispute

The contract impasse between Haason Reddick and the New York Jets has come to an end.

Reddick has agreed to a modified contract with the Jets and is scheduled to report to the team on Monday, according to a source who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the situation. The Jets will dismiss over $12 million in fines that Reddick accrued during his more than six-month holdout following his trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Adam Schefter from ESPN was the first to announce this update.

Reddick’s revised agreement lasts until 2024. The Jets and the linebacker will also be pursuing a long-term extension together.

New York acquired Reddick in a trade with Philadelphia back in March when negotiations in Philly stalled. However, a long-term deal was not finalized once he was traded to the Jets. The two-time Pro Bowler missed the entire offseason training and did not attend training camp.

In August, Reddick requested to be traded but the Jets chose not to move him.

Now it seems that issues have been resolved.

Reddick’s return comes at a crucial time as the Jets aim to improve their slow start to the season. The team also traded for star wide receiver Davante Adams, reuniting him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Adams is expected to make his Jets debut on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Reddick could potentially participate in Week 8, depending on his conditioning.

Reddick is anticipated to bring a significant boost to the Jets’ defense. So far this season, they have recorded 20 sacks, which ranks third in the NFL. His presence will help to compensate for the loss of pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, who suffered a season-ending torn Achilles injury.

The 30-year-old edge rusher has tallied 410 tackles, 58 sacks, and 69 tackles for loss over his 114-game career.
