Jordan Love Injury Update: Will Packers QB Play Week 3 Against Titans?
The Green Bay Packers secured their first victory of the 2024 NFL season in Week 2, but quarterback Jordan Love was sidelined.
Malik Willis took the reins against the Indianapolis Colts as a substitute for Love, who is nursing an MCL sprain from the Packers’ season opener versus the Philadelphia Eagles. This injury happened late in the match when Love was tackled awkwardly by two Eagles defenders while trying to throw the ball away. He exited the field with a limp and did not return.
Initially, it was thought that Love’s injury would require multiple weeks for recovery. However, the Packers decided against placing him on injured reserve, which gives them more flexibility with roster moves. This may prove beneficial, as Love might have a chance to be back on the field for Week 3.
Here’s the latest on Love’s injury status ahead of the Packers’ game against the Tennessee Titans.
Jordan Love Injury Update
Love returned to practice with the Packers on Wednesday, just under two weeks after his knee injury from the game against the Eagles. Although he was marked as “limited” in practice, his presence on the field is a positive development for his recovery.
Prior to the Week 2 clash against the Colts, Love did not practice at all, receiving a “DNP” (Did Not Participate) status each day, ultimately being ruled as “doubtful” for that game on Friday, according to the team’s injury report.

During practice, Love was seen wearing a red non-contact jersey along with a protective sleeve on his injured left leg. He participated in stretching exercises and drills that were open to the media.
Jordan Love Status for Week 3 vs. Titans
While Love’s participation in practice is encouraging, it’s still unclear if he will be available for Week 3. His situation will be further clarified following the Packers’ practice reports on Thursday and Friday.
On Wednesday, Love expressed his hope to play but mentioned he would evaluate how he feels as the week progresses.
“I plan to take the week day by day and see how it feels,” he stated, as per Ryan Wood. “I’m not making any decisions at this moment. I’m optimistic about being able to get back in there, but I will be monitoring it daily.”
More information about Love’s status will become available as he and the team assess how his knee responds to his workouts.
How Long Could Jordan Love Be Out?
At present, there is no clear timetable for Love’s return. However, the decision not to place him on IR suggests that the Packers’ medical team is hopeful Love can return without a minimum four-game absence, which would have prevented his return until Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Love was initially aiming for a Week 5 return. With his return to practice, this timeline could be expedited.
Nonetheless, there is also the chance that the Packers choose to exercise caution and refrain from hastily putting Love back in action, particularly considering he is the team’s $220 million franchise quarterback.
