Jordan Love’s Injury Woes: MCL Sprain in Packers’ Defeat Against Eagles

Packers QB Jordan Love Injured in Loss to Eagles

In their season opener, the Green Bay Packers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 34-29, and now the team may have to deal with the absence of their leading quarterback for the upcoming games.

Jordan Love had to leave the game just six seconds before the end due to a sprained medial collateral ligament. Although he is anticipated to be sidelined for a few weeks, his season remains safe, according to a source who preferred to stay anonymous as the injury status hasn’t been officially reported yet to YSL News Sports.

When asked about Love’s condition post-game, Packers coach Matt LaFleur commented, “I don’t know.”

While attempting to extend a play with just 15 seconds left on the Packers’ 49-yard line, Love got hit by Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter from below and edge rusher Josh Sweat from above, causing him to fall awkwardly.

Despite the hit, he managed to pass the ball to running back Josh Jacobs before hitting the ground.

Love remained on the field visibly in agony as the Green Bay medical team assisted him for a few moments before he walked off with Jacobs and staff support.

Backup quarterback Malik Willis stepped in for the last two plays of the match. Willis was taken down on the final attempt as time expired.

After the game, Love was escorted to the tunnel. He completed 260 passing yards, two touchdown throws, and one interception.

“It’s tough to see our leader go down,” said Jacobs after the game. “We’re unsure how serious his injury is, but we hope he’s alright.”

This past July, the Packers extended Love’s contract for four years and $220 million, making him one of the highest-paid players in the league after a remarkable debut season as a starter. In 2023, he guided Green Bay to the playoffs and became only the third quarterback in NFL history to surpass 4,000 passing yards and 32 or more touchdowns during his first season with multiple starts.

The Packers, now 0-1, are set to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.
