A simple, highly efficient, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly process could provide a viable pathway for the sustainable recycling of depleted lithium-ion batteries (LIBs): No chemicals beyond citric acid need to be added to leach out and separate over 99 % of the lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese metals contained in NCM batteries. Jorge Ramos Bids Farewell to Univision After Four Decades of Impactful Journalism

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos announces his exit after 40 years

Jorge Ramos, the prominent anchor of “Noticiero Univision,” is stepping away from the network after a remarkable 40-year career.

Ramos, along with TelevisaUnivision, the parent company of Univision, announced that he will leave the network following the 2024 U.S. presidential election in a recent press announcement.

“This is not a goodbye. I will still host ‘Noticiero Univision’ until December, and after that, I will share my future plans,” said Ramos, 66, in a statement. “I feel immense gratitude for these four decades with Univision and pride in being part of a team with such strong leadership over the years.”

While the reason for his departure was not provided, it was indicated that Ramos and Univision mutually decided not to extend his contract.

“I want to convey my respect and appreciation for Jorge Ramos and all he has contributed to Univision and the vibrant community we serve every day,” said Univision News President Daniel Coronell in a statement. “As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, our skilled team is well-prepared to uphold the tradition of journalistic integrity that has characterized ‘Noticiero Univision’ from the start.”

Jorge Ramos refers to Univision as his ‘second home’ in retirement announcement

During the Monday broadcast of “Noticiero Univision,” Ramos described his decision to leave as “challenging” and “sorrowful.” He expressed gratitude to both his coworkers and the audience for their consistent support, noting that Univision has truly become his “second home.”

“I want to thank our viewers who have been alongside me for such a long time, with so much affection and loyalty,” Ramos conveyed in Spanish.

Often hailed as the “Walter Cronkite of Latin America,” Ramos joined “Noticiero Univision” in 1986, co-hosting with María Elena Salinas until her departure in 2017. He is also the host of Univision’s public affairs program “Al Punto,” earning multiple Emmy awards.

Ramos’ departure is the second significant exit from Univision lately, following León Krauze’s exit from “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna” in November 2023.

Jorge Ramos challenged Donald Trump, advocating for important coverage

Ramos was also recognized for his frank criticism of former President Donald Trump.

In 2015, he was removed from a Trump press event after persistently trying to inquire about his immigration stance. Following the incident, Trump remarked that he would have taken Ramos’ question but objected to his behavior.

Later, Ramos was permitted to return and question Trump on immigration matters.

In a November 2023 column, he criticized Trump after Univision aired a contentious interview featuring the ex-president from Mar-A-Lago.

“We cannot accept actions that jeopardize democracy and the Hispanic community or give Trump a platform to spread his fabrications and conspiracy theories,” Ramos asserted at that time. “It is our duty to question and verify the truth of what he asserts and does.”
