Kamala Harris shares photo from Jimmy Carter’s funeral, notable absence noted; public reacts
A photo posted by Vice President Kamala Harris from the funeral service for Jimmy Carter has garnered attention, particularly due to the omission of a former and a soon-to-be president.
During the ceremony in Washington, D.C., President-elect Donald Trump, who was among the other four living former presidents, was notably missing from Harris’ social media post. The image features Harris, President Joe Biden, and former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama with their hands over their hearts.
Trump and the incoming first lady Melania Trump, who were seated next to Obama, were excluded from the photo shared on Saturday.
The caption on the Vice President’s official social media account reads: “President Jimmy Carter loved our country. He lived his faith, served the people, and left the world better than he found it. President Carter’s many contributions will echo for generations to come.”
It remains unclear if Trump’s absence was a deliberate choice, but followers on Instagram quickly noted his exclusion following their rivalry in the 2024 presidential election.
“Best photo crop of the decade,” commented one user.
“I had to laugh when I saw this photo. I appreciate a good cropped picture,” another user noted.
Additionally, the Carter Center, established by the former president and first lady Rosalynn Carter in 1982, also omitted the Trumps from several photographs shared on X on Thursday.
YSL News has reached out for comments from representatives of Harris, Trump, and the Carter Center.
