Kamala Harris Builds Support in Key Sun Belt States, Reduces Donald Trump’s Advantage

WASHINGTON – Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining traction in important Sun Belt states, which poses a challenge for former President Donald Trump, as indicated by a recent poll.

The poll from The New York Times and Siena College, conducted between August 8 and August 15, shows that Harris is ahead of Trump among likely voters in Arizona, 50% to 45%, and in North Carolina, 49% to 47%.

In contrast, Trump leads Harris by a slight margin in Nevada, 48% to 47%, and in Georgia, 50% to 46%, according to the same poll.

The poll surveyed 2,670 registered voters and has a margin of error of ±2.2 percentage points for the likely electorate.

This survey comes as Harris has been experiencing significant fundraising success and attracting large crowds at her rallies since President Joe Biden decided not to continue in the race. In July alone, her campaign reportedly raised over $300 million.
