Karen Huger from ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Faces DUI Conviction

‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Karen Huger found guilty of DUI

The star of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” Karen Huger, has been convicted of driving under the influence.

On Wednesday, Huger, who is 61 years old, was found guilty of several charges including DUI, negligent driving, failing to control her speed to avoid a crash, and not reporting a change of address. However, she was found not guilty of reckless driving, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, which confirmed the verdict to YSL News on Thursday. Her sentencing is scheduled for January 29.

YSL News has contacted Huger’s representatives for comments on the case.

State’s attorney John McCarthy spoke to YSL News, emphasizing that “driving under the influence is highly dangerous. We handle thousands of DUI cases annually and treat them with the utmost seriousness.” He added that Huger’s case was addressed like any other, based solely on the facts and her driving history, and encouraged everyone to drive sober and prioritize road safety.

Huger’s legal representation, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the jury’s decision to People magazine, but confirmed they plan to appeal the verdict and will vigorously seek justice for Huger.

Huger was charged in March after being involved in a car crash in Potomac, Maryland, where she “crossed a median and hit street signs,” according to a statement from the Montgomery County Police Department at the time.

Karen Huger body-cam videos: ‘RHOP’ star claimed she was ‘Thomas Jefferson’s concubine’ in post-accident footage

During the trial, body-camera footage revealed that Huger declined to take a sobriety test but admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to the accident and acknowledged she should have “probably taken a cab.”

The reality star questioned officers about their knowledge of her, slurring her speech while claiming, “I’m really rich” and “I am Thomas Jefferson’s concubine.”

The videos captured Huger insisting that an officer would feel “ashamed” once he looked her up online.

In March, Huger explained to TMZ that before the crash, she had dinner with a friend and discussed emotionally difficult topics.

“I was crying on my way home and saw a car coming directly at me. To avoid a head-on collision, I swerved, hit the median, and then a tree. I am hurt and a bit bruised, but I am very thankful to be alive!”

She also mentioned, “I did receive citations, with one being unrelated to the incident, which I understand. However, I was shocked that the car which nearly collided with me just drove away!”

Huger urged her followers to “be mindful of your emotional state” while driving and stated her incident should serve as a reminder to always wear seatbelts. “My mother may be my guardian angel, but the seatbelt saved my life,” she emphasized.
