It’s all about Katy Perry!

The artist known for “Teenage Dream” will be honored with MTV’s prestigious Video Vanguard Award during this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Previous recipients of this accolade include music legends such as Beyoncé, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Kanye “Ye” West, with the award named in tribute to Michael Jackson.

Perry, who has stirred up discussions with her latest single “Woman’s World,” is making a comeback to the VMAs, scheduled for September 11. She has previously won five VMAs and will be taking the stage again for the first time since hosting and performing “Swish Swish” alongside Nicki Minaj in 2017.

The pop star unveiled her new single, “Lifetimes,” on August 8, and her seventh studio album, titled “143,” is expected to be released on September 20.

This announcement comes at a challenging time for Perry.

The Grammy-nominated artist, aged 39, has recently encountered mixed reactions to her lead single “Woman’s World,” the initial release from her upcoming album, backed by its music video. Following the video’s debut on July 11, she took to Instagram to clarify that it was meant to be satirical.

In a statement to YSL News on Wednesday, Capitol Records, Perry’s music label, responded by stating: “The local film crew assured us that all necessary permits were in place for the music video. We have since found out that while one permit was still being processed, we were verbally authorized to proceed.”
