Kendall affirmed in his statement on Instagram that it was indeed his decision to end things.
“I have made the choice to break up with Nicole,” Kendall stated. “I still have love and care for her. I’ve never felt such intense feelings for anyone before. I have no regrets about our connection in the villa; it was genuine.”
Kendall finished his statement by requesting his followers to refrain from sending any negative messages to Nicole.
Nicole, Kendall initially connected in the villa
Nicole made her entrance in the villa as a new “bombshell” contestant, and she and Kendall quickly hit it off.
Despite initially being with Hannah Smith, Kendall soon chose to pursue Nicole instead, ending his partnership with Hannah. The couple stayed together for the remainder of the season, even though Nicole showed some interest in new contestant Miguel Harichi.
The pair was the first to be selected for a private night in the show’s “hideaway,” and by the end of the season, Kendall professed his love for Nicole.
They were among the four couples to reach the finale, which ultimately saw Kordell Beckham and Serena Page crowned as the winners through a fan vote. Following the filming in July, the couple indicated to Us Weekly that they intended to maintain a long-distance relationship beyond the show.
Tension during the ‘Love Island’ reunion
In the weeks following the conclusion of the show, social media was filled with speculation regarding There’s been a lot of talk about the current situation between Kendall and Nicole.
During the Season 6 reunion, hosted by “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, there was noticeable tension when she directed her questions at Nicole and Kendall.
Kendall started by expressing, “It’s been challenging navigating things since coming back.” He mentioned the difficulty of communicating and addressing their issues.
Nicole quickly interrupted him, saying, “Communication? You haven’t communicated at all, and you never have.”
The root cause of their tension seemed to stem from a private video of Kendall that leaked online just before the July 21 finale.
Although Nicole admitted that “nobody deserves” what Kendall went through, she criticized him for not being upfront about when the video was recorded or checking in on her as rumors swirled on social media.
Kendall reflected during the reunion, “I definitely should have been honest with Nicole then, but I was honestly not prepared for it. My life felt like it was crashing down, and all I wanted was for you to be there.”
